Composer Profile: BGSU’s 44th Annual New Music Festival:
As a part of the BGSU New Music Festival, Smelly Tubes (2019) for 14 instruments was performed by BG New Music Ensemble, conducted by Christopher Dietz, in addition, Piyawat was interviewed by Joey Miller, talking about his life, thoughts in music, tubes, his career, and ensemble Tacet(i). Piyawat is also currently appointed as Assistant Professor of Composition at Bowling Green State University (BGSU).

As a part of the Dresden Days of Contemporary Music festival, a new piece, Ptera for orchestra and sound objects was commissioned by Outernational, performed by Ekkehard Klemm, conductor, the Elbland Philharmonie Dresden in a particular project: Parasite Village.

In der Landschaftskomposition von Daniel Ott und Enrico Stolzenburg lassen am Nachmittag 200 Donaueschinger Musiker und Musikerinnen die Donau durch die Innenstadt rauschen. Bei den weiteren Proben und Konzerten wird Donaueschingen dann wieder “global”. Während der Thailänder Piyawat Louilarpprasert Neue Musik mit traditionellen Instrumenten und Performern erschafft, setzt sich die Japanerin Misato Mochizuki mit dem Zusammenspiel von Mensch, Natur und Wissenschaft auseinander.

As 2021 British Council Grantees: UK-Southeast Asia Connections Through Culture, Scott Wilson and Piyawat Louilarpprasert curated a collection of music, sound and discussion under the theme: “Resilience, Distance, Connection in Isolation, Space from Afar”. The curation consisted of performances by Thai and UK composers, panel discussions, lockdown concerts and telematic improvisation.

Piyawat has been appointed to be an artistic director for 2020 Thailand New Music and Arts Symposium: Human Technology and Simulation. The Thailand International Wind Symphony Competition 2020 is the result of collaboration between the King Power Company (The King of Duty Free) and the College of Music, Mahidol University. This TIWSC competition is open to anyone, regardless of age or nationality.
